ROCK GUITAR: LESSON TWO This lesson will place a focus upon my rock song's; solo section. Watch the video lesson on YouTube and download the supplimental material (included at the lower portion of this page). I would suggest that you practice the chord types and their shapes, (with and without distortion), for the solo section before jumping headstrong into the solo itself. I try to stress to my students that great lead players are always also great rhythm guitar players... i.e.; Hendrix, Van Halen, Stevie Ray Vaughn, etc. Use a metronome, or drum machine to keep accurate time during practice at slower tempos. When you begin getting a solid grasp of the solo, fire up the backing track and try to play along with the solo section. An MP3 is included of the entire piece. If you feel ambitious, try writing instrumental parts to the verse, bridge and chorus sections of my song as well! And, as usual... leave comments and contact me if you have any questions. Enjoy! |
Next Lesson we'll take a look at the guitar solo I've composed for this piece...
till then, I hope you enjoy this lesson and we'll see ya next time! Take care.
