The Growth of Creative Guitar on YouTube | One Possible Future for Pop Song Length and Format | Beefing Up Thin Melodies on Jazz Standards |
A HUGE thank you to everyone following Creative Guitar Studio on YouTube and here on my blog site. I'm pleased that so many players are happy with the weekly uploads. | When I think of how goofy the pop world is I always think back to John Barrow's Book How Not to Make It in the Pop World. It's an excellent breakdown of how cut-throat and psycho the pop music world really is. And, I expect it to get even crazier in the years ahead. | Melodies on Jazz Standards are often very thin and can come across as weak when performed in a small group. Have a look at Fred Sokolow's book Building a Jazz Chord Solo. He covers four versions of each song in his book. Each progressing to higher levels of difficulty. It's perfect for both the jazz guitar newbie or advanced player.
