Transposing Melody and Harmony

In order to be able to transpose a melody or chord progression from one key into another we must be able to clearly judge interval distances. Intervals help us to understand the distance from one note to another. This lesson combines intervals with the basic concept of chord harmony, allowing musicians to transfer music from one key into another key. Improvisers Blueprint Approach

This lesson explores a method guitar players can develop for performing solos over chord progressions. Clarifying the key center and knowing the correct tonality are emphasized. Other concepts include learning how to "push" into specific melodic and rhythmic concepts, as well as, playing off of both sound and feel. The video also stresses the need to target chord tones for creating this effect. Watch the video lesson to find out more, and Download the FREE MP3 JamTrack and PDF lesson handout for the practice examples.
